Command the Room · Lesson 3
Speaking at a family meeting without shouting
6 minutes
Family meetings bring out old tensions. Elders, in-laws and siblings all have opinions. The man who stays calm leaves with respect, even if he doesn't get everything he wants.
Before the meeting
- Write your point and two reasons.
- Decide what you can accept and what you can't.
In the meeting
- Greet everyone properly. Respect opens ears.
- Wait for your moment. Don't interrupt.
- If someone insults you, pause, breathe, and answer the issue, not the insult.
After
Thank the elders. Follow up on what was agreed. Keeping your word builds your voice for next time.
