Crisis protocol
Steps every faith leader and counsellor follows.
- Ask directly about suicide when you're worried.
- Stay with him, in person or on the phone. Don't leave him alone if he's in immediate danger.
- Remove means if possible, with his agreement.
- Call for help: Pa Bawo crisis line [short code]; emergency services [number]; nearest hospital.
- Inform the counselling lead the same day.
- Follow up within 24 to 72 hours.
- Record the case for review.
